As the language in which our Holy Qu’ran was delivered to the world, Arabic is a critical part of the LUA curriculum and is taught throughout a student’s experience in the school. Accordingly, learning outcomes for the Arabic program vary depending on grade level.
The general goals of Arabic instruction at LUA are as follows:

To introduce students to the Arabic language in order for them to read Qur’an and hadith.
To increase the understanding of Islamic culture through the Arabic language.
To develop skills and mastery in comprehending, speaking, reading, listening to, and writing Arabic.
To develop the abilities of sound thinking, right evaluation, and issuing correct judgments.
To develop self-learning skills.
To internalize a sense of belonging to the Islamic ummah.
To learn to link the Arabic language with the local environment in which our Muslim children live.
To develop an understanding of the social and cultural context through which linguistic communication is conducted.
To be conversant in various aspects of Islamic culture in Arabic.
To internalize pride in the Arabic language as the language of the glorious Qur’an and a conduit of Islamic culture.
